Anna Jessey Wade (2 December 1859 – 10 May 1952) was an English animal welfare campaigner.
Wade was born in Westminster, Middlesex on 2 December 18591, the first child of three. Her parents were John Wade (b. 1831), a chemist and dentist, and Anna Lydia Barber (1832-1862).2 Her sisters were Ethel Anna Wade (b. 1861) and Sarah Anna Wade (b. 26 August 1862). Jessey died on the 10 May 19523 in London.
The UK’s leading feline welfare charity, Cats Protection, was formed in 1927 by a group of like-minded people led by Jessey Wade.4
