6 Quarry Place, Shrewsbury - Salt family home during Henry Salt's childhood
6 Quarry Place, Shrewbury

One of Shrewsbury’s grandest town-houses, built c1778 for the Reverend Richard de Courcy, vicar of St Alkmund’s. In 1841, if not earlier, this was the Salt family home in Shrewsbury and continued to be so until at least 1907. Henry Salt would have visited the house on many occassions during his childhood, although he was raised at the Allnatt house on The Crescent, Shrewsbury.

Three storeys in brick above a stone basement, arched ground floor windows, and pedimented doorcase. The house is situated close to St. Chad’s Church, Shrewsbury.
